The patient population is adult patients (18 to 80 years of age, as estimated by crew on-scene) that suffers from an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest with assumed non-traumatic origin, as determined by the physician on scene.
Inclusion criteria
The subject must meet all the following criteria to be included in the trial:
Age 18 to 80 years
Out-of-hospital cardiac arrest
Non-traumatic cardiac arrest
Witnessed arrest or less than 10 minutes from debut of arrest to start of basic or advanced cardiac life support
Commenced ACLS is established and can be continued
Exclusion criteria
Fulfilling one criterion excludes the subject to be included in this trial.
Age less than 18 years or above 80 years
Traumatic cardiac arrest, including strangulation, electrocution and patients rescued from avalanches
Hypothermia, including drowning
Pregnancy, obvious or suspected
Suspected cerebral haemorrhage as aetiology of the arrest
Unable to perform ACLS as per national guideline
Patient included to the study site’s E-CPR protocol
Other factors as decided by the treatment team (environmental factors, safety factors and others)
