“REBOA as an adjunct treatment to cardiopulmonary resuscitation?“

REBOA in cardiac arrest

Non-traumatic out of hospital cardiac arrest is a severe condition and most patients will not survive. During cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) chest compressions generate a cardiac output. Resuscitative endovascular balloon occlusion of the aorta (REBOA) is a technique used to provide occlusion of the aorta by inflation of an intra-aortic balloon. There is a potential clinical benefit in redistributing this generated cardiac output to the organs proximal to the aortic occlusion, specifically the heart and the brain.
